Lamentations 5
A Poem and Prayer of Restoration

Lamentations derives from the word Lament, which means to mourn or show deep sorrow.

The Book of Lamentations is an Old Testament book in the division of major prophets.  Jeremiah is recognized as the author.  The book mourns the capture of Jerusalem in 587 B.C.  It is written in a poetic style.  Chapter 5 is a prayer for restoration of the people of Judah that have been enslaved.  It vividly describes their loss of freedom, loss of land, the burning and destruction of Jerusalem.  They lost their respect, endured rape and cruelty, forced labour, and near starvation.  These were consequences of the people's own sin and that of previous generations as well.

Minister Kelly's Observation
As we confess our sins, repent and ask for forgiveness; We have to endure hardships and tough times, during these times we need to be patient and wait on the Lord to renew us. During these times we also need to learn and gain wisdom through our situations. God restores, heals, and delivers.  God does answer prayers.
